According to Ymeri, LVV fails in attempt to impose an agreement on LDK

Kosovo Democratic League MP Janina Ymeri has expressed dissatisfaction with acting President Albulena Haxhiu over the delay in calling the constitutive session. According to her, this stalling tactic serves the Vetëvendosje Movement in pushing the country towards elections as close as possible to December, when the diaspora is present in Kosovo. During a conversation with RTV21, Ymeri categorically denied the circulating reports of a rapprochement between LDK and LVV.

“This delay has suited LVV so that, in the absence of a consensus on the president, they can steer new elections towards December and the influx of expatriates. At the same time, it gives them the opportunity to extend the caretaker government’s mandate without accountability and transparency. There has been no kind of agreement, whether formal or in principle, nor any understanding on voting. All of this has been media speculation and analysts’ opinions, but nothing concrete, neither in the Parliamentary Group nor in consultations with leader Abdixhiku,” she stated.

Ymeri also dismissed claims by LVV representatives that they are preoccupied with internal dynamics within LDK regarding the initiative to dismiss leader Lumir Abdixhiku. She emphasized that LVV is constructing a fabricated narrative, recalling that Albin Kurti has historically been an opponent of Rugovism.

“Albin Kurti and LVV have always opposed Rugovism, therefore this narrative they are now feeding and spreading aims to illustrate that LDK is controlled by someone else. The reality is that LDK will find its own path and will not lean towards any other political formation, much less form coalitions on the eve of our Electoral Assembly. LVV does not lack the support to form the Government; they have the votes, but they are not making the executive a reality. So, the blockage does not come from us. LVV is sabotaging itself, because it does not aim to exit the acting position, neither for the government nor for the presidency, and in every scenario wants to bring elections closer to the diaspora’s arrival. Kurti does not aspire to govern with full powers, because he does not want to face processes like that of the Association. It is difficult for someone who has relentlessly denigrated it and is now expected to sign the Zajednica, the term he himself has used,” she added.

The MP emphasized that comments from LVV officials about cooperation with LDK remain merely aspirational. She ruled out the possibility that pressure could lead to any agreement.

“LVV can try to exert pressure on LDK, but it will not achieve its goal, just as it failed in 2025. Everything projected by LVV is simply wishful thinking. If there were an agreement in principle, it would be reflected in the Parliamentary Group,” Ymeri concluded for RTV21.

Regarding the race for the presidency, the LDK MP made it clear that no name proposed by LVV would receive their support. She added that Vjosa Osmani would not become an obstacle to unblocking the situation.

“A presidential candidate coming from the ranks of LVV is a rejected scenario; LDK will not vote for them. If LVV insists only on its own will, the result is known. I do not think that this time citizens will accept new elections without expressing revolt through protests, as tension is rising and I do not oppose them. Vjosa Osmani has previously stated that she will not be the cause of blocking institutions and will not impose the condition ‘either me, or elections.’ The main issue lies with LVV. It cannot attribute the lack of a solution to other parties. The math is elementary: they have the numbers and can form the Government, regardless of who the president is,” Ymeri stated.
