4,255 fines in 24 hours and 8 drivers arrested during massive checks on the country’s roads

Traffic Police forces have intensified their presence on all road axes, focusing on preventing tragic incidents and strengthening road safety. The balance of the last 24 hours speaks of 4,255 administrative sanctions imposed on violators of the Highway Code, as well as the arrest of 8 individuals, 6 of whom were caught driving under the influence of alcohol and 2 without a license.

Special attention was given to speeding beyond the allowed limits, where 1,331 drivers were penalized on national roads. In parallel, in residential areas, police services imposed 1,530 fines for irregular parking, using tow trucks to remove cars that occupied reserved lanes and pedestrian spaces.

During the increased monitoring, the blue uniforms highlighted a series of flagrant violations that endanger the lives of road users. On national axes, speeding remains the main cause aggravating the consequences of accidents, for which 1,331 drivers were penalized.

The list of other penalties includes 332 drivers caught without protective helmets, 126 without wearing seat belts, and 66 others who were using their mobile phone while driving. Also, 166 drivers were fined for improper overtaking, 27 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 11 for dangerous maneuvers and noise in urban centers, as well as 494 others for various violations caught during checks.

Citing the high weekend flow towards the coast and tourist areas, the Traffic Police Directorate has increased patrols and intelligent monitoring on the ground. The latest appeal to drivers is clear: show maximum care, respect the rules, and avoid any behavior that threatens everyone’s physical integrity. Uncontrolled speed, alcohol, and carelessness behind the wheel are the common enemy that must be fought from the moment you start the engine.
