42 days after the attack on him, Hysni Mehani: I still don’t know which prosecutor is handling the case, Sami Lushtaku initiated it

Hysni Mehani, a deputy minister and representative of the Vetëvendosje Movement, has reacted publicly 42 days after he was physically attacked, saying that he still has no information about which prosecutor has been assigned to investigate the case.

In a Facebook post, Mehani said that, apart from the statement he gave to police on the day of the incident and the submission of a medical report after a phone call made several days later, he has received no other notification from the justice institutions.

He repeated the accusation that the person who initiated the attack was Sami Lushtaku, adding that he later learned that one of the other attackers had previously been convicted of murder.

Mehani criticized the institutions for their lack of action, stressing that he is still waiting to find out who is investigating the case. He also underlined that he will not back down from his commitment to justice, freedom and equal opportunities for all.

Dear friends,

Today marks 42 days since the day I was attacked. Even now, as I write this post, I do not know who the prosecutor on the case is! Other than the day the incident happened, when I gave a statement to some police officers, and a phone call a few days later to submit the doctor’s report, and that only if I wanted to; nothing else!

Even now, as I write this post, I do not know who the people are who attacked me. I know that one of them, and the initiator of the attack, was Sami Lushtaku, and later I learned that one of the other attackers had previously been convicted of murder.

Imagine this: a former convicted murderer goes out and attacks a citizen, attempts to kill a citizen who happens to be a deputy minister, attacks him in broad daylight and without any reason at all, and the prosecutor on the case releases him under regular procedure, and to this day I do not know of any measure that has been taken.

Dear friends, I have been bombarded with all kinds of thoughts; I have only one answer to all of them!

Every drop of blood, sweat and effort spilled for justice, for freedom and for equal opportunities for all is not shameful, nor should it make us feel ashamed; on the contrary, it should increase our pride.

It is shameful to live as a bootlicker, as a servile and submissive person to those who choose murderers as companions.

Those who know me know that I have never chosen the easy paths, just as I have never been afraid of the difficult ones, even at the cost of my life, a cost I had considered long before the attack happened.

Prosecutor, male or female, that is the issue I am waiting to find out!
