40 days of defiance against the government: protesters begin organizing in Skanderbeg Square

The organization of protest participants has already begun in Skanderbeg Square.

Today, this civic protest marks 40 days since it began, ranking among the longest-running movements of its kind in Albania in recent years.

For 40 consecutive days, citizens have gathered every evening in front of the Prime Minister’s Office with the same slogans that have echoed since the start: “Rama to prison, Berisha to prison,” “Rama resign,” and “New Albania.”

Last night as well, just like on the other 38 days, after the gathering in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, the protesters set off on a march through the streets of Tirana, stopped in front of parliament and then at the headquarters of the Democratic Party, where they shouted “Sold-out opposition,” accusing the opposition of being part of the same system they are seeking to bring down.
