Rama, ciao!” / Protest Enters Its 93rd Day as Citizens March Toward the Prime Minister’s Office: “Rama in Prison, Berisha in Prison!

The protest against the government is continuing today, marking the 93rd day of uninterrupted civic mobilization, which has now lasted for more than three months.

After gathering in Skanderbeg Square, the protesters began marching along “Martyrs of the Nation” Boulevard toward the Prime Minister’s Office. Their main demand remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government’s departure.

During the previous 92 days, rallies have been held every day, and citizens have repeatedly said they will not stop until their demands are met. In addition to Rama and his cabinet stepping down, the protesters are calling for the creation of a transitional government and a change to the political system.

A day earlier, the 92nd protest also featured a march from Skanderbeg Square toward the government building, along with banners, whistles and chants against Edi Rama. The slogan “Arrest Balluku” was also heard along the way. Speeches against the government were delivered in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Activist Sidorela Vatnikaj said from the podium that the protest would continue until Rama and his government leave office. She also opposed the old political system, declaring that citizens no longer want to choose between “two autocratic leaders,” but aspire to a new Albania.

Activist Arben Kola accused the ruling majority and said that citizens had gathered to tell the government to “get out.” In his speech, he focused in particular on Kukës, accusing those in power of depopulating and neglecting the area.

A mother who had returned from emigration also spoke at the rally. She said she had returned to Albania because, in her view, “the homeland is in danger,” and appealed to parents to join the young people. The protester also claimed that, during the march toward the Prime Minister’s Office, eggs had been thrown at citizens from above.

Another protester said that the government was, in her view, showing signs of fear and that, after 92 days, citizens were no longer being deceived by what she described as the “facade” of those in power.
