20-Year-Old Girl Left Home with Italian Partner, Parents Investigated for Stalking and Threats

A 20-year-old woman of Albanian origin has been caught in a severe family conflict in Rimini, Italy, after choosing to leave her parents’ home to live with her Italian boyfriend.

The girl’s parents, aged 44 and 47, originally from North Macedonia, reportedly could not accept the relationship due to religious differences. According to investigations, they continuously pressured their daughter and threatened her when she refused to end the relationship.

The family, settled in Rimini for years, had imposed strict limitations on the 20-year-old’s life, including her clothing, social circle, and personal decisions. The conflict deepened after she began a relationship with an Italian man who was not Muslim.

To escape the pressure, the young woman left home and moved in with her partner. The young couple tried to keep the address secret, but the parents allegedly gathered information from relatives, acquaintances, and members of the community until they discovered the couple’s location.

Subsequently, the girl began receiving frequent messages, some of which contained threats. One of them stated: “I can find you even if you go to the Moon, because Albanian families are all united.”

Another message, according to the investigative file, warned her: “If you don’t come back home, you will have a life of hell.” Frightened, the girl and her partner turned to the Rimini Police and filed a complaint, but according to them, the harassment continued.

On another occasion, the parents sent the girl a photograph showing the father near the street of the apartment where she lived with her boyfriend. The couple considered this as proof that the family members had found the house and could arrive there at any moment.

After this episode, the two young people filed a second complaint and asked authorities for measures to stop the parents from contacting or approaching them.

The situation took an even more serious turn in May 2026, when the parents, according to investigations, went to the couple’s apartment and entered without permission. The situation risked turning into a physical clash, as the two young people were allegedly threatened with an attack.

The couple retreated to another room, locked the door, and called the police. The officers’ intervention made it possible to avoid a further escalation.

After reviewing the testimonies and reported episodes, the Rimini Prosecutor’s Office decided to proceed with criminal charges against the two parents. They are being investigated while free for stalking and threats.

Investigations are ongoing, while the 20-year-old and her partner aim to continue their cohabitation away from the family pressure and the events that, according to the complaints, have lasted for several months.
