18 drivers detained for irregular driving, including two minors

Over the past 24 hours, police across the country have detained 18 drivers who were operating vehicles without a driver’s license, two of whom were minors, the North Macedonia Interior Ministry said.

According to the statement, five people were detained in Gostivar, one of them a minor and another who had previously been involved in a traffic accident. Four people were caught in Skopje, two in Kicevo, one of them a minor, as well as one person each in the Tetovo region, Krivogashtan, Prilep and Bitola.

The Interior Ministry also said that in Delcevo one person was driving under the influence of alcohol. Meanwhile, one person in Kicevo and one in Kavadarci were found driving despite having a ban on operating a motor vehicle. After the documentation of the cases is completed, the appropriate criminal charges will be filed against them.

The Interior Ministry called on all road users to comply with traffic rules, not to get behind the wheel without passing the driver’s license exam, and not to drive if they are under a driving ban or under the influence of alcohol, so that everyone together can contribute to safer traffic.
