109th day of protest/ Citizens return to the square, march to Parliament announced

The protest against the government of Edi Rama enters its 109th day today, with citizens and activists expected to gather again in Tirana to continue what they have called an uninterrupted revolt.

Today’s gathering comes after a busy day of protests in the capital. On the 108th day, participants first gathered in front of the Prime Minister’s Office and then marched through the streets of Tirana, chanting against the government and demanding Rama’s resignation.

“Albania is making a revolution,” “Albania is not for sale, the government is for sale,” “Your end has come,” and “Arrest Rama” were some of the chants that accompanied the march.

The protesters also addressed SPAK, calling for the continuation of investigations and arrests of senior officials.

Activist Arben Kola mentioned Prime Minister Edi Rama and Belinda Balluku, declaring that citizen pressure must continue.

“Veliaj in jail and Albanians free. Rama and Belinda Balluku are next. I invite you every day to the square to increase popular pressure,” Kola declared.

Tuesday’s protest did not stay only in front of the Prime Minister’s Office. After the march in the capital, participants headed to the Security Block on “Mine Peza” street, where they demanded the release of detained protesters.

“You are not alone,” “Free the eagles,” and “All of Albania is with you” were their chants in front of the premises where the detainees are held.

Meanwhile, the 109th day is also expected to serve as a precursor to the protest announced for Thursday. At the previous day’s gathering, a call was made for citizens to gather at 10:00 a.m. in front of Parliament, at the time when the Assembly will hold its session.

“We will all be at Parliament on Thursday at 10:00,” was the call made by the protesters, who have warned that the action will not stop only at daily gatherings in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.
