Protest Enters Its 91st Day as Citizens Demand Rama’s Resignation: Albania Belongs to the Youth, Not the Party!

The civic protest against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama enters its 91st day today. Citizens continue to gather in Tirana, demanding the resignation of the head of government and a change to the political system.

The mobilization has continued uninterrupted for 90 days, with protesters marching from Skanderbeg Square to the area in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, where they have voiced their opposition to the government.

The departure of Edi Rama remains the protesters’ main demand. Their platform also calls for the establishment of a transitional government with a 12-month mandate, as well as a change in the country’s political leadership.

During last night’s gathering, participants marched through the capital’s streets chanting, “Change the system! Revolution!”, “Arrest Rama and Balluku!” and “Albania belongs to the youth, not the party!”

They declared that the protest would not stop until their demands were met.

Even after 90 days of protests, participants describe the movement as a civic revolt against the old political class. At the 90th protest, the message “90 days, one demand: accountability” also appeared on banners, while organizers announced that the mobilization would continue.

Another gathering of citizens in the square is planned for the 91st day, followed by a march through the streets of Tirana. Protesters aim to maintain civic pressure until political change is achieved.

Meanwhile, a national protest has been announced for September 12, which the Diaspora is also expected to join.
