Zelensky expects to meet Trump at the end of September: After talks in New York, I may be more ready for negotiations

A Russian attack struck a shopping center in the central area of Pavlohrad, in Ukraine’s Dnipro region. According to Ukrainian authorities, at least four people were killed and more than 60 injured.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister, Ivan Vyhivsky, said on Telegram that the strike took place during the day, at a time when large numbers of people were on the city’s streets.

“The Russians struck a shopping center in the center of Pavlohrad. In the middle of the day, when there were many people on the streets,” Vyhivsky wrote.

Oleksandr Ganzha, head of the Dnipro regional administration, confirmed that four people had been killed and more than 60 others injured. Among the wounded are three children, aged 13, 14 and 15.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he expects to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York at the end of September. The meeting is expected to take place as part of U.S. efforts to revive negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

During a news conference in Canada, Zelensky said: “I believe that at the end of September we will have the opportunity to meet with the American delegation in New York.” He stressed that after talks with Trump, he might be “more open” to issues related to negotiations to end the war.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin has rejected claims that a drone threat was made against Zelensky’s aircraft as he was leaving Moldova two days ago. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesman, said that such a threat “never existed.”

Peskov also said that Moscow’s demands for reaching a peace agreement with Ukraine remain unchanged. Russia wants Ukraine to give up the four regions that Moscow claims to have annexed: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, and to abandon its goal of joining NATO.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, the only change over the past two years is Moscow’s assessment that “the situation on the ground has become much worse for Ukraine.”
