Witkoff and Kushner arrive in Moscow as Putin announces three-day ceasefire with Kyiv

Vladimir Putin has ordered a halt to attacks on Kyiv for a three-day period, beginning at midnight. The decision is linked to talks currently taking place with American negotiators.

The decision was confirmed by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who said the suspension of attacks was part of discussions with the American side, Russia’s TASS news agency reported.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, have arrived in Moscow.

Their visit represents a new diplomatic effort to advance negotiations on the war in Ukraine. The two U.S. officials are also expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, September 6.

The main discussions are expected to take place between representatives of Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. During their meetings in Moscow, Witkoff and Kushner are expected to address the situation in Ukraine and the possibility of reaching a peace agreement.

As diplomacy enters a new phase, Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of attacking several Ukrainian airports.

“During the night, there were demonstrative Russian attacks on our airports, in Kyiv and Boryspil,” Zelensky wrote on the social media platform X.

The Ukrainian president said the strikes could be linked to discussions over the use of an American aircraft for travel to Ukraine and its landing at the airports in Kyiv or Boryspil.
