Who really runs the state?”/ Bardhi reacts to Ron Yeffet audio recordings: Ministries are not private property; transparency and accountability are required!

The head of the Democratic Party’s parliamentary group has reacted to the newly published audio recordings involving Ron Yeffet, which reveal conversations he had with foreign nationals about the Ministry of Energy, led at the time by former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister Belinda Balluku.

“Leave the Ministry of Energy to me!”

According to Bardhi, the publication of these recordings is no longer merely a matter of an investigative nature, but raises an important political question: who is actually running the Albanian state?

He says that if a foreign national, relying on personal relationships with Edi Rama, can treat Albanian ministries and institutions as if they were private property, then this constitutes a scandal requiring immediate public and legal answers.

“Don’t send any official letter; I’ll deal with them myself” – according to him, this statement reflects an alarming way of exercising power, in which institutions are bypassed, procedures are replaced by phone calls, and decision-making is allegedly conducted through personal and corrupt connections.

Bardhi raises the questions of who granted these powers, who authorized the interventions and who will bear responsibility. He directly links his answer to Edi Rama.

He emphasizes that Albania’s assets and institutions are not the property of Edi Rama, much less of his friends or clients. According to him, Albanian citizens do not need a state where decisions are made in corridors or through private phone calls, but institutions that operate in accordance with the law, with transparency and in the public interest.

Albania, the statement continues, cannot be considered anyone’s property. Albanians’ assets must not be divided at private tables, and institutions cannot be run through the Prime Minister’s personal relationships.

For this reason, Bardhi calls for the matter to be accompanied by transparency, an investigation and the holding of those responsible to account, without further delay.
