Weapons Trafficked from Kosovo to Albania Seized, Two Arrested in Durrës

The “Hallkat” police operation, conducted in Maminas, Durrës, led to the seizure of three pistols and 34 rounds of ammunition. According to the State Police, the weapons are suspected of having been trafficked from Kosovo to be sold to criminal groups in Albania.

M. B., 34, a resident of Kukës, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of transporting the weapons by car, KosovaPress reports.

The passenger traveling with him, D. N., 39, a resident of Prizren, was also arrested. She is suspected of the criminal offense of “Failure to report a crime.”

Police said that during a search of the vehicle in which the two were traveling in Maminas, officers discovered three pistol-type firearms and 34 rounds of ammunition, which are suspected of having been brought illegally from Kosovo.

A search of the suspect’s home also uncovered a bladed weapon, specifically a pair of brass knuckles. The authorities also seized the vehicle suspected of having been used to transport the weapons.

M. B. is under investigation for the criminal offenses of “Trafficking in weapons and ammunition” and “Unauthorized production, possession, purchase or sale of bladed weapons.”

Investigators are working to identify other individuals who may be connected to the case. Meanwhile, the case materials have been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
