VV proposes Albin Kurti to Haxhiu as nominee to form the new government

Albin Kurti, leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, is on his way to meet Acting President Albulena Haxhiu, from whom he will receive the mandate as a candidate for prime minister of Kosovo.

Albulena Haxhiu, in her capacity as speaker of the Assembly, declared that parliament is considered constituted following the election of deputy speakers Kujtim Shala, Emilia Rexhepi and Tanja Vujoviq.

The Vetëvendosje Movement has sent a letter to Acting President Albulena Haxhiu, putting forward its leader, Albin Kurti, as its nominee to form the Government of Kosovo.

Through the document sent to Haxhiu, VV officially submitted its candidate for the formation of the new institutions, after the Assembly was constituted.

Following this move, the procedure for forming the new government is expected to begin. The nominee must then present the composition of the cabinet to lawmakers for a vote.

A session of the Assembly of Kosovo is expected to be held today, during which the formation of the new government is scheduled to be discussed.

Sources say that 14:00 is the preferred time for the session, while the final confirmation of the schedule is expected during the day.

The session is expected to take place after the Assembly was constituted today, during which the deputy speakers from the LDK, the Serb List and other minorities were elected. The Democratic Party of Kosovo did not participate at all, arguing that the constitutional deadlines had been exceeded.
