European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen began her visit to the Western Balkans with a stop in Albania, where she met with Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Prime Minister’s Office.

After the meeting, she shared her appreciation on social media for Albania’s commitment to its path toward integration into the European Union. Von der Leyen stressed that priority should be given to reforms, particularly those in the justice system and the environmental field, while also emphasizing the need for ongoing communication with society.
“I am pleased to be starting my visit to the Western Balkans from Albania. Dear Edi Rama, your efforts to turn Albania’s European dream into reality are strong,” the European Commission president wrote.
She added that the path toward this objective runs through a focus on reforms, from justice to the environment, as well as through maintaining a strong dialogue with society. According to her, the goal is now clearly visible and can be achieved through these efforts.
