VIDEO/ Crane collapses onto a car in Miami, operator jumps from cabin at the last moment, four injured

Four people were injured on Monday morning in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood after a construction crane suddenly collapsed, struck a vehicle and caused a fire. The operator managed to get out of the cabin moments before the collapse, escaping at the last moment.

The circumstances of the incident have not yet been clarified. The metal structure fell onto a white car traveling along a road near the construction site.

According to Miami Fire Chief Robert Hevia, the vehicle’s driver realized that the crane was falling and managed to pull forward just before it crashed onto her car.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

During the collapse, the crane also struck a large metal storage container. Two workers were inside and became trapped.

A difficult operation was carried out to rescue them. One firefighter cut through the container’s metal to create an exit, while another worked to extinguish the fire that broke out after the impact.

The two workers were removed from the container and, along with the crane operator, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Videos from the scene show the operator jumping from the cabin and moving away from the crane moments before the structure collapsed.

Meanwhile, firefighting crews acted immediately to extinguish the flames and ensure the area was safe, while rescue teams worked to free the trapped individuals.
