Unidentified Object Explodes in Poland During Massive Russian Attack on Ukraine

An object whose origin remains unclear fell on Polish territory and exploded near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia, about 95 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

The incident occurred as Russia was carrying out a large-scale missile and drone offensive against several Ukrainian regions.

Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion, while the Polish military launched an investigation to determine the origin of the object, according to the country’s authorities. Poland had earlier scrambled its fighter jets because of Russian attacks near the border.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it had carried out a “massive attack” using drones and long-range missiles against military bases in Ukraine.

Several Ukrainian cities were targeted in the bombardment. One person was killed in Kyiv, while the worst consequences were reported in Kryvyi Rih, where a ballistic missile destroyed a home. Six people were killed, including two girls aged 5 and 12, while at least eight others were injured.

In Lviv, a city near the Polish border, rescue teams are continuing operations to find people who may be trapped under the rubble. More than 10 people have been reported injured.

The wave of attacks came just one day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump at the White House. During the meeting, Zelensky requested additional air defense systems for Ukraine.

At the same time, Ukrainian forces continued counterattacks deep inside Russian territory. A Ukrainian drone struck a warehouse belonging to the Wildberries company in the Penza region, sparking a fire. Russian authorities reported that one person was injured and approximately 200 others were evacuated.

It has not yet been determined whether the object that fell and exploded in Poland was connected to the Russian offensive or was another type of aircraft. Polish authorities are continuing their investigation to clarify the incident.
