Ukrainian Drones Strike Kirishi Refinery and Yeysk Military Air Base

During the night, Ukrainian forces attacked a military air base and one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, according to channels monitoring developments.

A suspected drone attack sparked a fire at the Kirishi refinery, located in the Leningrad region. The facility, also known as Kinef, ranks among Russia’s main oil-processing centers and has been placed under sanctions by the United States and Ukraine’s allies.

Alexander Drozdenko, the governor of Leningrad, said a drone crashed near the refinery, where a fire subsequently broke out. He said Russian air defense systems shot down 62 drones over the region. No information has yet been released about the extent of the damage or possible casualties. Meanwhile, powerful explosions were also reported at the Yeysk air base in the Krasnodar region.

Ukrainian drones were also detected in the Smolensk and Bryansk regions, although it is not known whether any other targets were struck there. The operation has not yet been officially confirmed by the Ukrainian authorities, while reports from the ground could not be independently verified.

These attacks took place one day after Ukrainian forces struck targets in Rostov, as well as several Russian military installations in occupied territories. These included drone storage and launch centers in Donetsk and annexed Crimea.

According to Kyiv, strikes deep inside Russian territory are intended to reduce Moscow’s capacity to continue the war.
