Ujman, German embassy expresses alarm over demolitions: Call for immediate halt

The German diplomatic mission in Pristina has expressed deep concern over the demolition of homes near Lake Ujman. This mission has thus joined the concerns previously voiced by the European Union about this situation.

In its public appeal, the Berlin embassy in Kosovo calls for the immediate cessation of these operations and demands transparent solutions in line with the legal framework.

Kosovo authorities have begun demolishing buildings erected on the territory of the “Ibër-Lepenc” enterprise in the area of this lake. This move has been strongly opposed by the current owners of those houses, who are from the Serb community, as well as by political representatives from Zubin Potok. The latter have stated that they never gave consent for these demolitions.

The diplomatic note observes that the implementation of rule-of-law principles and the meticulous observance of legal procedures, as guaranteed by the Constitution of Kosovo, are the fundamental pillars for the country’s European integration process.
