Two road crashes within minutes in Pogradec, a 32-year-old loses his life and several people are injured

On Tuesday afternoon, two road accidents were recorded in Pogradec within a short span of time. According to initial suspicions, rainfall and wet road conditions may have contributed to the drivers losing control of their vehicles.

The first accident was recorded in Qafë Pllocë, on the new road axis, where the driver of a van lost control and crashed into the roadside barriers.

Due to the violent impact, the driver was seriously injured and was rushed to the Municipal Hospital of Pogradec, but did not survive.

“The driver of the vehicle, Amarildo Islamaj, is the 32-year-old from Vlora who lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the road’s protective barriers on both sides. The impact was very strong and the driver sustained severe injuries, which caused his death. The investigative team is working to fully clarify the circumstances and cause of the accident,” police said.

Another accident also occurred on the Pogradec–Lin road, near the village of Pojskë. Preliminary information indicates that at least three people were injured in the crash, while one of them was trapped inside the vehicle, making the intervention of emergency services necessary.

Police forces and investigative teams went to both locations where the accidents occurred and are continuing their work to clarify all the circumstances surrounding them.
