Two major fires brought under control by firefighters in Strumica

Two major fires, in Llovica and Koleshino, were contained by the Strumica firefighting teams.

In Llovica, the flames engulfed dry grass and brush, coming within around 100 meters of the first homes. Firefighters and village residents took part in the firefighting operation, while rainfall helped bring the fire under control.

Risto Mancev, mayor of the Municipality of Bosilovo, said the fire was suspected to have been deliberately started.

According to him, cut branches and a lighter were found at the scene. Meanwhile, another fire broke out at a cardboard-processing factory in Koleshino.

Fourteen firefighters took part in the response, using five fire engines. After the fire was brought under control and contained, one vehicle with firefighters remained at the scene to monitor the situation.
