Two arrested in Durrës for murder and participation in a criminal organization, another person also taken into custody

The State Police has concluded the international operation codenamed “Fury,” carried out in cooperation between Albanian security structures and partners abroad. The operation was conducted by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, under the Criminal Police Department, in coordination with the Durrës Local Police Directorate and with the support of the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) at the United States embassies in Tirana and Skopje.

As a result of this operation, two individuals considered highly dangerous to society were detained in Durrës. They were internationally wanted by the authorities of North Macedonia.

The arrested men are M. Xh., 26, born in Skopje, and S. N., 34, born in Norway. According to INTERPOL, international arrest warrants had been issued against them for murder, wounding, illegal possession of weapons, and criminal offenses committed within the framework of a criminal organization. During the search, police found identification documents suspected to be forged, which are believed to have been used to leave the territory of North Macedonia and evade justice.

During the operation, Xh. R., 26, a citizen of North Macedonia, was also caught in flagrante and arrested on suspicion of having provided the forged documents to the wanted individuals. He is accused of the criminal offenses of “Assisting the perpetrator of a crime” and “Forgery of documents.”

During a search of his home, police also found and seized a small quantity of suspected narcotic substance Cannabis Sativa. The case materials have been forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for the continuation of the investigation, while the Albanian authorities described cooperation with American partners and Macedonian counterparts as decisive to the success of this operation.
