“Trump has presented Serbia as an aggressor state”, Sherifi: US may turn its attention to Kosovo soon

Regional affairs expert, Idaver Sherifi, invited to the show “Log.” on News24 commented on the recent statements of US President Donald Trump regarding relations between Serbia and Kosovo and their impact on the situation in the Balkans.

Sherifi emphasized that Trump’s mention of Kosovo among global problems is seen as a clear signal for a return of the US administration’s attention to the region in the coming weeks or months.

“I think there is a broader plan to bring Kosovo into the mainstream on his agenda,” he said, considering this a positive development.

He also stressed that Trump’s statements show a position where Serbia is presented as the aggressor, while Kosovo is presented as a state that is being threatened and deserving of protection. “Trump has launched a policy of conflict resolution,” Sherifi concluded, suggesting that this could bring a new dynamic to the dialogue process between the two countries.
