Trepça regains control of property near the Faculty of Arts in Prishtina

The company “Trepça” has started clearing and taking possession of a parcel in Prishtina near the Faculty of Arts, for which it holds ownership documents.

This was confirmed for KosovaPress by Burim Hajdini, head of property and asset management at Trepça, who emphasized that this parcel has not been used by the company since the end of the war.

In addition to clearing the space, Trepça claims that for years it has suffered considerable financial losses because it could not use this property. At the same time, the company also has tax obligations related to this property, worth thousands of euros.

Hajdini explained that today’s action is part of the continuing release of properties belonging to the company Trepça Sh.A. He said they are in Prishtina and, since Trepça is the owner of the parcel, they have come to clear it, as it has not been in use since the war. According to him, they are placing a sign erected a few days ago and an advertisement that proves the property belongs to Trepça. All surrounding buildings, he added, are also owned by the company, while with some premises they already have agreements, so they are obliged to clear them to be used as a parking area.

Hajdini announced that at the moment they have an agreement with a state institution for the use of the parking area, as well as an additional annex to this agreement.

He emphasized that car owners will remove their vehicles themselves, without any violent measures being taken. According to Hajdini, the Inspectorate, the Municipality, and the Police have been notified of this activity, and he added that they have informed all judicial bodies. “At the moment we have not received a response, because the property is ours and we are in compliance with the law and regulation, which does not require the presence of other institutions,” he stated.

Hajdini announced that Trepça has been involved in proceedings for this parking area since 2024, but, according to him, has not received a concrete response from institutions; he emphasized that it is now 2026 and there is still no such response. He pointed out that the ownership certificate and all documents are within Trepça Sh.A. According to him, the building is currently used by the Faculty of Arts, but a court dispute is ongoing for this building and they are awaiting the final decision. “We have had the case in court for two years. The moment we have a verdict from the court, we will take measures in accordance with the decision,” he underlined.

Based on market prices in this area, Hajdini estimates that the company could realize around 45 thousand euros per month from rent, or approximately 500 thousand euros per year. He added that offers have been submitted to Trepça for this purpose, but the revenues have not been realized due to lack of access to the property and lack of a profitable contract.

Hajdini also mentioned that the company is burdened with tax duties of around 153 thousand euros, which according to him are taxes of the faculty that have created property tax within Trepça. He said that over the years it has not been declared that education is exempt from tax, therefore Trepça still has unpaid obligations to the Tax Administration for this building, worth about 153 thousand euros. According to him, the property tax has accumulated since the post-war period and now represents a financial burden for the company towards the Tax Administration.
