Transporting 4 Afghans to Montenegro, two foreign nationals arrested in Shkodër

Two foreign nationals have been arrested in Shkodër after they were caught transporting four Afghan nationals by vehicle, who are suspected of intending to cross the border into Montenegro illegally.

The operation, codenamed “Transit 2,” was conducted by officers from the Shkodër Local Directorate for Border and Migration as part of checks to prevent cases of assisting migrants from third countries in illegally crossing the border.

Azerbaijani national M. A., 59, and Turkish national C. D., 36, were arrested. Border Police stopped them on the “Shkodër-Hani i Hotit” road, while C. D. was driving the vehicle and M. A., the owner of the vehicle, was traveling as a passenger.

According to police, the two arrested individuals were transporting the four Afghan nationals for payment. They are suspected of having intended to cross the state border into Montenegro illegally.

The vehicle used to transport the migrants was also seized as material evidence. The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecution Office attached to the Shkodër Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction for further action.
