Trainee Police Officers’ Oath Without North Macedonia’s Constitutional Name Sparks Reactions

Another group of new trainee police officers has completed its training and held a swearing-in ceremony.

In the wording of the solemn oath, they did not use the country’s constitutional name, North Macedonia, thereby violating the constitution.

“We swear that we will respect the laws and constitution of Macedonia, as well as police standards and ethics,” the new police officers can be heard declaring in unison.

Videos of the ceremony were posted on social media, where they prompted numerous comments.

So far, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has not issued any official response.

Meanwhile, last month, a formal graduation ceremony was held at the Police Academy in Idrizovo for 496 new police officers of the 2025-2026 class./Telegrafi/
