At least six people were killed and 27 others injured in a serious road accident on Sunday afternoon near the border between Italy’s Lazio and Umbria regions.

Preliminary investigations by the Traffic Police indicate that a camper van is suspected of veering into the opposite lane and colliding head-on with a bus traveling toward Rieti, according to Italian news agency ANSA.
Three other vehicles were also involved in the collision, one of which overturned.
The victims were the two drivers and two passengers on the bus, as well as the two people traveling in the camper van.
According to ANSA, four of the injured are in critical condition. They were airlifted by emergency helicopters to Gemelli Hospital in Rome and the hospital in Terni.
