Tragic Accident in Skopje, Koci Demands Accountability: Family Paid €2,800 to Repatriate the Bodies to Kosovo

The families of the three victims who lost their lives in the tragic accident on the Skopje–Blace motorway section will be legally represented by lawyer Arianit Koci. He has called for the circumstances of the incident to be fully clarified and for those responsible to be brought to justice.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Koci said that he had gone with the victims’ relatives to the North Macedonian Police. However, according to him, the key questions surrounding the investigation of the case remain unanswered.

The lawyer sought to find out which company had built the section, who had supervised the work, and who was responsible for securing the road. He also asked why access to the motorway section, although officially closed to traffic, had not been physically blocked.

According to Koci, further questions arise from the fact that the entrance to this section was physically blocked with gravel and equipped with traffic signs only after the fatal accident.

He demanded an explanation as to why these measures had not been implemented earlier, when the section was officially listed as closed to traffic, but were taken only after the accident occurred.

Koci stated that, at this stage, there is no information on whether anyone has been detained or questioned regarding responsibility for the case.

In his statement, the lawyer also addressed the financial burden that, according to him, the families faced following the tragedy.

He said that the families had to pay €2,800 to transport the bodies from North Macedonia to Kosovo, adding that the state should at least have covered this expense.

Confirming his commitment to legally representing the victims’ families, Koci called for the accident to be fully investigated and for institutional responsibility for the incident to be established.
