Tragedy in West Sussex/ Three members of the same family die at sea after parents entered the water to save daughter trapped in fishing net

A tragic incident has been recorded in West Sussex, Britain, where three people lost their lives during an incident at sea, while a young girl remains in critical condition. According to witnesses, everything may have begun after one of the children became caught in a fishing net.

Four people were seen in serious difficulty in the water yesterday, at a time when the sea was rough. After the alarm was raised, ambulances, two helicopters and the coastguard arrived in the area.

A man, a woman and a teenage girl failed to survive, despite the intervention of rescue teams. Meanwhile, the younger girl was taken to hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

All four people were members of the same family, which had reportedly set up camp near the area where the drowning occurred.

A fisherman is said to have pulled one of the children from the sea and then alerted the authorities to the serious situation.

Joe Crisp, 24, said that a local fisherman had told him there were “two adults and two children” in the water.

“One of the children appeared to be caught in a fishing net,” he said.

Witnesses suspect that the child becoming trapped in the net may have triggered the chain of events that ended in this tragedy.

Police have opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances and establish exactly how the incident occurred.

Local residents said the family had been camping near the harbour in recent weeks. The identities of the three victims have not yet been made public.
