Tourist Murdered in Ksamil, “Principote Mykonos” Denies Any Connection to Albanian Venue

Following the tragic incident in which 20-year-old Portuguese national Luis Miguel Varela Mendes lost his life at “Principotes” beach in Ksamil, the luxury seaside complex “Principote Mykonos” has also issued a statement. Twenty-nine-year-old Sokrat Vata is suspected of carrying out the murder.

Representatives of the Greek brand said they have no business relationship or any other connection with the beach bar operating in Albania. According to them, the venue in Ksamil is using the registered “Principote Mykonos” brand without authorization, and legal action has been taken against the business.

In a public statement, the company said: “In light of a tragic incident that recently occurred in the Albanian town of Ksamil, at a venue that is illegally using our business name, we clarify, in order to avoid confusion, that PRINCIPOTE MYKONOS has absolutely no business or other relationship with the aforementioned Albanian venue. We have taken legal action against it in order to prevent it from engaging in unfair competition to our detriment by illegally ‘harvesting’ the international reputation that PRINCIPOTE MYKONOS has built over many years.”

The statement comes as Albanian authorities continue their investigation to fully clarify the circumstances of the fatal confrontation in which the 20-year-old Portuguese national was killed.
