Tirana protests: OVL condemns misuse of KLA flag and calls for respect for the symbol

The Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans’ Organization (OVL) has responded to the misuse of the flag bearing the Kosovo Liberation Army emblem during protests in Tirana. The organization condemned any misuse of the flag, describing such actions as acts of vandalism.

In its statement, OVL called on protest organizers and participants to protect the dignity and sanctity of the KLA symbol. It stressed that every citizen’s right to protest does not mean that discontent, however great, permits this flag to be associated with violence, destruction or looting.

According to the organization, the KLA flag does not serve to legitimize any action. The symbol embodies Kosovo’s liberation war, the nation’s martyrs and the freedom achieved through their sacrifice.

For this reason, OVL emphasized that the symbol must never be used to justify, identify with or conceal actions that damage public or private property.
