Three women injured in Paris knife attack, including a pregnant woman; 31-year-old arrested

A knife attack in the Porte de Clichy area of northern Paris left three women injured on Monday, one of whom is pregnant.

The incident occurred around noon near the Les Deux Coupoles restaurant and a tram stop, according to police sources cited by Le Figaro.

An on-duty police officer spotted the suspect attacking passersby with two knives and called for backup from colleagues. After a brief chase, officers managed to subdue and arrest the 31-year-old.

French authorities said the suspect was taken into custody immediately after the attack. Preliminary information indicates that he may suffer from mental health problems.

Two of the injured women were taken to hospital in serious condition and are being kept in intensive care, while the third sustained less serious injuries.

In footage circulating on social media, the 31-year-old can be heard saying: “Allah ordered me to do it.”

France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office announced that it is closely monitoring the Paris Prosecutor’s Office investigation, which aims to establish the motive for the attack and determine whether the incident was terrorist in nature.
