The peaceful protests held in Tirana have now entered their fourth week, with daily marches and rallies attended by thousands of citizens demanding Edi Rama’s removal from power.

What stands out is not only the number of participants, but the fact that after more than 20 days of protests, there have been no reports of any wave of vandalism by the citizen protesters, no broken windows and no damage to public property.

On the contrary, after the rallies end, many participants stay behind to collect trash and clean the public spaces where they have been protesting.

Such a civic culture is more reminiscent of the well-known examples from Japan, where citizens are known for their discipline and care for the environment.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Edi Rama is complaining about 10 water jugs in the square, which are being cleaned up by municipal services. The head of government published a few seconds of footage, writing: “One night in the capital, as the final metaphor of a protest that began for the protection of the environment and ended up polluting itself…”

Meanwhile, Rama also published a statement in which, according to him, one of the organizers said that, “there are Greek and Serbian groups infiltrated into the protest.”

The head of government then commented as follows: “Ouuu….. What about this one himself?! Slowly, slowly, they will all come out! And the flamingos will be amazed at themselves for falling headfirst among the crows and ravens of false Albanianism,”
