The Left opposes the reduction of sick leave and warns of a legal battle

The Left has announced that it will launch legal proceedings against the government over the reduction of sick leave.

The party led by Dimitar Apasiev considers the announcement by Zlatko Perinski, director of the Health Insurance Fund, that basic sick leave will be reduced from seven to five days to be troubling. According to the party, additional checks on people taking sick leave constitute another violation of workers’ rights and an even more alarming attempt to interfere with citizens’ privacy.

Amar Mecinoviq, speaking from the Assembly press center, announced that The Left’s parliamentary group will submit a proposal for the issue to be regulated by law rather than through a regulation, thereby protecting workers’ interests.

He stressed that The Left, as a parliamentary party, has a responsibility to address citizens’ needs. For this reason, Mecinoviq said, the party will submit concrete proposals to the Assembly to protect their rights.
