Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço commented on the clash in recent days between singer Jozi Marku and Edi, a former contestant on Big Brother VIP Kosova.

According to him, cases like these, in which violence and masked individuals appear, are also shared online. Karamuço noted that the virtual space is pushing individuals toward extreme actions, even criminal liability, with the aim of securing clicks, fame and money.
“This is a virtual world that draws you in, pushes you to achieve the maximum and take actions that you should not carry out to the extreme, just for a few clicks. In the end, everything turns into money, and these people are part of this system. Within it, everyone tries to go to their limits, even if that means facing criminal liability, just to become known. Every click is turned into money through them,” he said.
The expert stressed that young people are often involved in clashes and serious criminal offenses under the justification that they want to “make a name for themselves.” For Karamuço, this tendency is turning into a troubling phenomenon and mentality.
“The desire to become famous is very widespread in Kosovo, but it is now appearing in Albania as well. We have cases in which, in order to make a name for themselves, people have become involved in conflicts that have led to explosions, killings and injuries, just to say that they, too, want to be known. Today there are relatively young people who have been sentenced to life imprisonment or long prison terms and, when you ask them how they became involved in this situation, they answer: ‘I did it for a name, to make a name for myself,’” Karamuço said.
Referring to the incident, he said that at first the footage had seemed to him like part of a film because of the masks, license plates and other elements, including police-related ones. However, the subsequent arrests showed him that the clash had actually taken place.
“At first it struck me as a film scene, as if a production with masks, license plates and various elements was being shot. Later, police license plates also appeared. When the police began making arrests, I understood that everything had been verified and that it was not acting. In other words, the fight was real,” the expert said.
Ervin Karamuço added that the protagonists themselves make these incidents public, aiming for the footage to go viral and bring them attention.
“The reason these episodes are published and even set the police in motion is that, without being shared, the incident would have remained isolated and no one would have known about it. It is published precisely for this purpose, even though in this way the person compromises himself in the eyes of the law. He brings legal consequences upon himself and goes to his limits for this very reason,” he said.
