The film “Dua” selected as Kosovo’s official submission for the 2027 Oscars

The film “Dua,” directed by Blerta Basholli, has been selected as Kosovo’s official submission in the International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.

The decision was made by the Selection Committee, which unanimously praised the film’s courageous narrative, Pinea Matoshi’s performance, and the way the work addresses universal themes such as identity, trauma and resilience.

The selection of “Dua” marks another important moment for Kosovo’s cinema on the international stage, placing the film in contention for a nomination in the Best International Feature Film category at the Academy Awards.

This is considered a special year for Kosovo’s cinema, as Kosovo will be represented in the Oscars race by two films.

Alongside “Dua,” “Shame and Money,” directed by Visar Morina and winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, has also qualified directly for the Academy Awards race.
