The European Union gives North Macedonia’s Army military equipment worth 40 million euros

New equipment for the Army, secured with European Union funding, was presented at the “Ilinden” barracks in Skopje. The procurement was carried out as part of cooperation with the EU, specifically through the European Peace Facility, and is organized in three packages.

The equipment from the first package, as well as part of the second package, has already arrived in the country. It includes various tools and systems, such as radars, thermal cameras, transport vehicles, simulators, a 3D radar and portable sensors. Meanwhile, the third package will include logistical equipment, as well as equipment for communication and infantry units.

Present at the presentation were Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Defense Minister Vllado Misajlovski and European Union Ambassador Michalis Rokas.

“Security is an essential part of the European Union’s European partnership with North Macedonia, especially considering that in 2024 we signed the security and defense partnership. Today we are truly pleased to see tangible results from this partnership. I am convinced that we will continue to work closely to confront all the security challenges facing Europe,” said Michalis Rokas, the EU ambassador to North Macedonia.

“This is a package totaling around 40 million euros and an additional 2 million euros for the Balkan countries. We are working continuously, and I hope that in the coming period we will announce new packages that will include additional equipment, but what I want to say is that the extraordinary cooperation we have with the ambassador, with the European delegation, is bearing great fruit, additional equipment, an increased budget, which is very important,” said Defense Minister Vllado Misajlovski.
