The attempted coup will fail,” Naim Miftari responds to attacks against Gërvalla and asks who is behind them

The decision by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague to sentence Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi sparked discontent in Kosovo. Following the announcement of the verdict, protests were held and several demands were addressed to state institutions.

During the protest held on Friday, participants demanded, among other things, that the law on the Specialist Chambers be repealed or amended.

Hysni Gucati, head of the KLA War Veterans’ Organization, declared that everyone was KLA that day.

He said citizens had gathered to speak out loudly against a grave injustice, calling on the Specialist Court to overturn the decision and take into account the people who had risen in protest.

At the end of the rally, the organizers presented four demands to the Government and the Presidency of Kosovo. These included repealing or amending the law on the Specialist Chambers, dismissing Justice Minister Donika Gërvalla, ensuring unlimited support and sufficient funding for the defendants’ defense, and engaging the best international experts to defend the KLA.

Donika Gërvalla has faced criticism because she did not respond to the Specialist Court following the sentencing of the former KLA leaders. On Friday evening, PDK lawmaker Mërgim Lushtaku published a photograph of her with the Serbian flag placed behind it, along with the caption, “Donika Gërvalla, traitor to the nation.”

In addition to public criticism and attacks, Gërvalla was also threatened by an individual who was subsequently arrested by the Kosovo Police.

The 32-year-old suspect had threatened both Gërvalla and Vudi Xhymshiti in a Facebook post. In the post, he also mentioned a “bullet” and the place “where it should hit.”

The Kosovo Police announced that they had arrested a Kosovar man on suspicion of threatening a Kosovar woman and man through social media. Following questioning and by order of the prosecutor, the suspect was remanded in custody.

Naim Miftari, a former KLA officer and former SHIK agent, believes that the protests and the emotions of citizens opposing the Specialist Chambers’ decision are being used for other purposes.

In his response, Miftari addressed Hysni Gucati and linked the latter’s statement to the past of Donika Gërvalla and her family.

He told “Bota sot” that the attempted coup by multimillionaires and war profiteers would not succeed.

Miftari described Gucati as “Sami Lushtaku’s condom” and “the stooge of the multimillionaires from the PDK-AAK camp,” while claiming that he holds the position of chairman of the KLA War Veterans’ Organization only nominally. He also accused him of stealing from the education budget, drawing a salary without working for 18 years and misappropriating the organization’s funds.

According to Miftari, Hysni Ngucati is exploiting the protest and the sentiments of citizens who took to the streets against the decision of the Kosovo Specialist Court in The Hague, while placing the blame on the Government of Kosovo. He noted that Donika Gërvalla is the daughter of national hero Jusuf Gërvalla, who was killed by the Serbian UDB, telling Gucati that at the time he was one of Comrade Tito’s red-scarved pioneers.

The former KLA officer also leveled accusations against Sami Lushtaku. He claimed that the protesters’ demands had been influenced by Lushtaku and individuals who, according to him, have ties to Milan Radoiçiq.

Using the expression, “Unable to punish the donkey, you beat the saddle,” Miftari addressed Gucati with a series of accusations. He called him a thief of the state budget and a criminal convicted of obstructing justice at the Kosovo Specialist Court, while saying that despite having apologized perhaps a hundred times and cried “like a woman” while in The Hague prison, he remained a multimillionaire made rich through corruption.

Miftari stated that Prime Minister Albin Kurti cannot be subjugated and will never fulfill what he called Hysni Ngucati’s devilish wishes and demands. According to him, these demands stem from the grudges of their boss, Sami Lushtaku, and from Milan Radoiçiq’s friends.

In conclusion, he claimed that the coup had been planned by some of the PDK-AAK multimillionaires and by Serbia, which, according to him, has definitively lost northern Kosovo. Miftari added that the former PDK-AAK rulers have been left without protection money, tenders or agricultural grants, stressing that this plan “will not work for them.”

On September 16, Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi were each sentenced to 25 years in prison. Kadri Veseli received an 18-year prison sentence, while Rexhep Selimi was sentenced to 13 years.

The trial panel found them criminally responsible for war crimes involving the arbitrary detention of 385 people, the cruel treatment of 49 people, the torture of 303 people and the murder of 96 people.

The judgment states that the victims included Kosovo Albanians viewed as opponents of the KLA, individuals alleged to have had ties to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia or the Serbian authorities, as well as members of several ethnic minorities, including Roma and Serbs.

On the other hand, all four defendants were acquitted of the six charges related to crimes against humanity.

This is a first-instance judgment and may be appealed.
