The 28th anniversary of the Gollubovc massacre commemorated; Krasniqi: Perpetrators of the crimes still free, while liberators are being convicted

The 28th anniversary of the Gollubovc massacre, one of the gravest events of 1998 in the Municipality of Malisheva, was commemorated with tributes and honors. On September 26 of that year, 28 Albanian civilians were killed in the massacre. The same day, three fallen heroes of the Municipality of Malisheva—Ilaz Javori, Rasim Maloku and Selman Deligashi—who died during the war, were also commemorated.

Family members, numerous citizens, Malisheva Deputy Mayor Vesel Krasniqi, directors of municipal departments and representatives of the Association of Martyrs’ Families in Malisheva attended the commemorative ceremony.

Krasniqi described the Gollubovc massacre as one of the gravest wounds of the war and called for those responsible to face justice.

“This day brings back the pain of one of the gravest events of the war, when 28 citizens of our municipality were brutally killed. These crimes clearly prove that it was the Serbs who committed crimes, not the liberators. Nevertheless, the courts continue to convict the liberators, while the perpetrators of these crimes are living freely. As a municipality, we will not remain silent in the face of these injustices, and we demand that those responsible be brought to justice. You, the families, must remain strong, because thanks to this blood and this sacrifice, we are living freely today and commemorating those who fell,” Krasniqi said.

Speaking about the three fallen heroes who died on this date, the deputy mayor of Malisheva emphasized that the memory of their sacrifice would be passed down from generation to generation.

“As long as the nation lives, the fallen heroes will be remembered, because thanks to their blood and sacrifice for the nation, we enjoy freedom today,” Krasniqi said.

Kastriot Berisha, speaking on behalf of the Martyrs’ Families in Malisheva, praised the contribution of the nation’s fallen heroes and of all those who contributed to the liberation war.

“Thanks to this sacrifice and this blood shed over the centuries, the Albanian people live freely, and today we are building the country,” Berisha said.

Family members expressed their gratitude to the institutions and participants for the honors paid during the tributes. They emphasized that commemorative ceremonies are of great importance to families who lost their children, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers during the war.
