Teenager Loses Life in Osum: Villagers Blame Institutions, Say River Dams Created Mud Pits That Trapped Boy in Water

In the village of Orizaj in Berat, the Sadushi family today began funeral ceremonies for their only son, who tragically drowned in the Osum River. Deeply grieved, relatives, friends, and classmates bid farewell to 15-year-old Fatjon Sadushi during the final tributes.

Local residents have raised harsh accusations against the local authorities, claiming that the recently installed dams to curb floods are the cause of this tragedy.

Although the forensic report confirmed drowning as the cause of death, locals claim that these structures have created deep mud-filled pits, which prevented the teenager from getting out of the water.

The 15-year-old boy had entered the Osum’s flow to cool off while working with his father on the land. As soon as the parent noticed his son was in danger, he immediately jumped into the river, but for the young man it was already too late.
