Supreme Court opens procedure for selecting 3 new HJC members after terms end in December

The President of the Supreme Court has officially announced the opening of the call for expressions of interest to fill three vacant seats on the High Judicial Council, as the five-year terms of three members of this institution expire on 12 December 2026.

The three positions to be replaced belong respectively to a judge from the Courts of First Instance, a judge from the Courts of Appeal, and a judge from the Supreme Court.

The public notice states that judges wishing to run must submit their written application to the President of the Supreme Court by 13 July 2026.

Together with the expression of interest, candidates are required to submit a package of documents, including an updated CV, supporting statements from judges, the self-declaration form, and a personal platform outlining the objectives they aim to achieve as members of the HJC. They must also submit declarations for background verification, integrity, and the absence of cooperation with the former secret services.

Candidates must also make available information on relatives who practice law or hold managerial positions in large economic entities, as well as a list of related persons, in accordance with legislation on the prevention of conflicts of interest.
