Summer Continues into September / Meteorologist Lajda Porja Warns: The Heat Will Persist Until…

Meteorologist Lajda Porja, speaking live on Ora News, discussed the weather conditions during the first days of September and the expected change after September 10.

Temperatures will remain high, reaching up to 36-37 degrees in some parts of the country, before dropping significantly and returning to levels more typical of autumn.

According to Porja, hot weather will continue to dominate until September 10.

Elbasan and Berat are expected to reach 37 degrees, Tirana 36 degrees, and Fier and Lushnja around 35 degrees.

Temperatures in mountainous areas will reach up to 32 degrees, while coastal areas will see temperatures of around 33-34 degrees.

“I predict that, at least until September 10, thermometers in two or three of Albania’s counties will register 36-37 degrees. These are very high figures, given that we have officially entered the autumn season and the highest normal temperature in September is no more than 28 degrees,” she said.

In the coming days, the weather will be mostly clear and dry across most of the country. The exception will be southeastern areas, where isolated rain showers may occur.

The biggest change is expected after September 10.

A cold air mass originating from the North Pole will move toward the Balkans after destabilizing the atmosphere over Central Europe.

This situation is expected to bring rainfall and a drop in temperatures of around 10 degrees.

Temperatures will fall from 36-37 degrees to around 28-29 degrees, bringing conditions more typical of autumn for several days.

“After September 10, we will experience some signs of the autumn season. Some areas will be as much as 10 degrees cooler than they are now. So, from 37 degrees, the thermometer will register around 28 or 29 degrees after September 10. Then, from September 17-18, temperatures are expected to rise again,” the meteorologist said.

According to forecasts, the cooler conditions will last around four to five days before temperatures begin to rise again around September 17-18.

Porja attributed this situation to warm periods extending beyond the typical summer months.

Above-normal temperatures are expected not only during September but also throughout October and November, while rainfall is expected at various times over the coming months.
