Sori AL’s operations suspended after 64 students were poisoned at the Security Academy, Alma Tafani denies responsibility

The operations of the company Sori AL have been suspended following suspicions that 64 students at the Security Academy were poisoned, in an incident that has now occurred for the second time in less than two months. While the test results are still pending to clarify the cause, administrator Alma Tafani reportedly tried to evade responsibility during questioning.

The number of affected students, who are suspected to have been poisoned by food supplied by this company, has reached 64. So far, the authorities have not yet determined what caused this repeated situation at the Security Academy.

The investigation has focused both on the company providing the catering service and on the National Food Authority, which in its initial response downplayed the responsibility of the company owned by Alma Tafani.

The National Food Authority said it had taken samples from the food consumed by the students and had ordered the suspension of Sori AL’s operations until the test results are published.

Administrator Alma Tafani was questioned by police. Unlike her initial statement, in which she claimed that outside food is also brought into the Academy, it is learned that before investigators she linked the trainees’ health problems to a flu virus.

Although checks are continuing, no one has yet been held responsible for this scandal.

Agriculture Minister Andi Salla said at a press conference that the Security Academy premises have been sealed off until the analyses are completed, which will determine the cause of the poisoning.

Meanwhile, the Police and the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office are continuing inspections and verifications, but at this stage they have not assigned responsibility to anyone, neither from Alma Tafani’s company nor from the other entities involved in the food supply chain.

This file is expected to be merged with the investigation into the case that occurred at the beginning of May, when dozens of students ended up in hospital after consuming food contaminated with Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus, two bacteria that cause infections in the human body.
