Since the beginning of 2026, more than 6,000 drivers have had their licenses confiscated

Kosovo Police announced that since the beginning of 2026 up to now, more than 6,000 driving licenses have been confiscated.

According to the police, this measure is implemented in accordance with the legislation regulating the field of traffic.

In its response, KP stressed that it enforces all applicable laws in the Republic of Kosovo and, in this case, those related to traffic, where in addition to fines for various offenses, protective measures are also предусмотрены. As a result, since the beginning of this year, 6,259 drivers have been banned from operating motor vehicles.

The police said this response comes after doubts raised by experts on the justice system, who said that “Kosovo Police, through the confiscation of driving licenses, is violating human rights.”
