Since 1999, with no contact with his son, 57-year-old appeals: Help me meet my boy

For the country, 1999 brought major changes, but for a 57-year-old man it remained an open wound that changed his life forever. After a painful divorce and a sudden departure, he lost all contact with his young son.

In an emotional account for the program “Me zemër të hapur” on News24, hosted and produced by Evis Ahmeti, the 57-year-old said the family breakdown happened in the hardest possible way for him. According to him, his wife left, leaving their little boy with him, and for a month showed no interest in him. Later, when he had set off as an emigrant to Italy, people from her family took the child. Today, the father is asking for help in the hope of meeting his son.

“I met my son’s mother through matchmaking. We knew each other very little. It was a mistake by both of us, let’s call it that. My mother was still alive, my father had died. We were happy when our son was born. We had arguments between us, because it was her weakness… She left and left the boy with me for 1 month. I lived with my mother. She showed little interest. The boy was asking for his mother, and I told him: she will come. Later, her brother and sister came and took the boy. I had gone to Italy. There must have been an informant. When I left the house, they went and took him from my mother. When I found out they had taken my son, I made several attempts. But a lawyer told me: the boy is well. Leave that matter alone! In 2016 my son looked for me, but I was abroad. Now I want to meet him,” the father said.
