The Mayor of the Municipality of Preševo, Ardita Sinani, has reacted to the results of the latest recruitment competition for 400 new members of the Fire Service. According to her, not a single Albanian from Preševo or Bujanovac was hired.
Sinani said that two firefighters from the Municipality of Preševo and three from the Municipality of Bujanovac were selected, but none of them is Albanian. She stated that this is yet another recruitment competition organized by Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs in which Albanian candidates have been completely overlooked.

According to the mayor of Preševo, such an action violates both minority rights and fundamental human rights.
She emphasized that this follows recruitment competitions for police officers, adding that Serbia has neglected the employment and integration of Albanians in all state institutions.
Sinani described the situation as alarming, stressing that these are two municipalities where Albanians make up the majority of the population.
