Shootout in New England leaves one dead, ICE agents involved

A shooting incident in Biddeford, New England, involving agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), ended with the death of one person on Tuesday.

The news was confirmed by Ryan Fecteau, the Speaker of the New England House of Representatives, who emphasized that investigations into the circumstances have already begun by state authorities.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Fecteau declared: “One person has lost their life. ICE was involved in the incident. The State Police and the Department of Public Safety are collecting evidence at the scene, and the FBI is expected to join the investigation.”

The official added that these are currently the only details and that he will provide new information as soon as the competent institutions disclose further details.

This incident follows just days after another case in Houston, where a Mexican-origin immigrant was shot dead by a federal immigration officer during a traffic stop. That case sparked protests and strong calls for increased transparency and accountability from law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that it has requested an official statement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, but so far there has been no response from them.
