Asked by the media after the nomination, Shiroka-Pula initially said that she could not speak about the matter at that moment.
“I have guests from Sarajevo,” she said.
Later, the academician explained that she had not yet held the discussions she considers necessary before making a decision.
“I have not yet spoken to the people I need to speak to,” Shiroka-Pula said.
She stressed that she needed a little more time to discuss the matter and decide whether to accept the proposal to become president.
“I need to discuss it a little more before I decide,” she said.
Shiroka-Pula currently serves as chairwoman of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo (ASHAK). In the past, she served as Kosovo’s minister of energy and mining, as well as a member of the Kosovo Assembly.
The candidacy proposed by Kurti is linked to efforts to overcome the political deadlock and elect Kosovo’s new president.
