SDSM: After Vučić, Mickoski is also preparing to set the elections

SDSM says that Hristijan Mickoski has once again brought the issue of elections back into the public debate.

According to the party, his move came immediately after Vučić announced the elections. SDSM believes this is not a coincidence, but evidence that Mickoski is acting on instructions and already knows the date of the elections, even though he has not yet made it known to citizens.

The opposition party claims that he is using broad media support from Serbia to strengthen Orbán’s 40 percent, while the objective, according to the party, is to create a complete media blackout.

SDSM says citizens should not be informed about poisoned water, the lack of money, or the results of analyses that are published after five weeks. According to the party, the public should hear only what is broadcast by Latasi and the imported programs, while the opposition should be labeled as “murderers.”

“Mickoski has absolute power and a two-thirds majority. He controls the president, the government, Parliament, as well as the majority in most municipalities. For this reason, he can set the elections whenever he wants, without needing SDSM’s approval or anyone else’s courage. What he needs is an alibi,” the response said.

SDSM challenges him not to justify himself by citing empty coffers or a lack of room for new borrowing that would finance corrupt tenders. According to the party, he may claim that he was provoked and merely responded, but the party will not provide him with that alibi. “We are not calling for his elections to cover up his bankruptcy. He will set the elections when the money runs out. That is his calendar, not ours,” SDSM said.

“Those who make phone calls whenever the show is about to begin have already called. On that very day, following his conviction, there was a call for the dissolution of Parliament and the setting of a date. Everything happened quickly and practically, as if it had been ordered,” the response continued. SDSM added that citizens understand who in this drama continually takes the supporting role so that the main protagonist can come out clean. “This is not opposition pressure. Mickoski should not hide behind cowards, other people’s statements, and his brother from Belgrade,” SDSM said.
