Violence among children and young people is appearing more and more every day, while for a large portion of these cases there is still no final outcome from the responsible authorities. Physical fights, threats, the use of sharp objects, verbal bullying, as well as recording and sharing incidents on social media, are becoming increasingly common. Former teacher Satki Ismaili, who has devoted his life to education, believes that responsibility should not be left to children, because in his view they are victims of neglect both from the family and from institutions. He stresses that children’s upbringing and mental health today should be placed above every other priority.
“Usually, this situation that has been created is a consequence of both institutional neglect and family neglect. No, the children are not to blame, I am telling you this as a teacher who has dedicated my life to issues of education. The child is a victim of all these circumstances in society, starting from the family, school institutions, other institutions, and the education system, which always tries to carry out some reforms in what is written in the documentation, but things are never actually implemented. Activities are needed from early childhood, different activities should be carried out especially on the issue of preventing violence and on aspects that affect children’s psychological, mental, and physical health; these are all priorities, even compared with education, if we may say so. Upbringing is very important in today’s life,” said former teacher Satki Ismaili.

Ismaili further emphasizes that signs of discrimination and violence among children are found in many settings, on the streets, in cities, and in residential areas, mainly when they are outside school hours and without parental supervision. To curb this phenomenon, he said that a pilot project will begin in September in several schools that operate with a single shift. This expanded program will also include extracurricular activities.
“Satki Ismaili believes that children are victims of neglect by the family and institutions. In particular, there will be activities in schools that operate with one shift; several schools will work with the expanded program, in which many activities are planned during the day, extracurricular ones in which preventive programs related to school activities will also be included, involving parents, children, teachers, and so on. To be honest, very little is being done in this direction,” stressed former teacher Satki Ismaili.
According to Ismaili, it is essential that this project does not remain only on paper. He believes that acting from early childhood, through activities that protect children’s psychological and physical health, is the only way to stop this worrying phenomenon. /Alsat.mk
